Bengals receiver Chris Henry has suffered "very serious" injuries in a car accident, according to a release from the team.

They are saying life threatening injuries. I guess jumping into the bed of a truck and being thrown from it could be a bad thing. Hopefully everything is ok. Some of the reports I have read said he was dead.

Henry is on life support after falling out of the back of a truck in North Carolina, and the situation is currently listed as "dire".

Henry jumped into the back of a pickup truck which was being driven away by his finacee, according to FOXSports.com. Henry was found on the road having suffered life-threatening injuries. Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan told the Associated press the following:

"We are aware he was in an accident and that his injuries are very serious. We are obviously staying in touch with the situation and are ready to offer whatever assistance we can."

Henry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center. At this time, any Twitter reports saying that Henry has passed away (apparently there is a fake one purported to be from Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News) are inaccurate. As of 4:25 PM Pacific Time on Wednesday afternoon, the NFL Network is reporting that Henry is still alive.

The 14 year old son of a neighbor was killed after falling out of the back of their pickup...just a block away from us. They keep a little memorial up at the corner where he fell. When my hubby was a cop, he said domestic disputes were some of the most dangerous situations he got into.

Just sad...my prayers and thoughts are with him and his family.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.
