Default Rate my team / advice

OK, this is a straight salary league, $200 cap. After raises are put in (raises are based on performance from prior year, which is why I am over $200 right now), you can keep as many players as you want but you can't go over $200. I will obviously have to release some people and go into the auction. I won this league last year, so let me know what you would do.

    Rule highlights:

    Starting lineup:
    1 QB
    1-3 RB
    1-5 WR
    0-2 TE
    1 K
    1 DEF

As you can see, it's basically 1 RB, 1 WR and 4 FLEX.

    All TD's = 6
    Reception = 1
    rush/rec yards = 1 for every 10
    pass yards = 1 for every 25

    Scoring ranks last year:
    11 top 30 are WR
    5 top 30 are RB
    14 top 30 are QB

    My current team and salary

    QB
    Drew Brees - $30
    Joe Flacco - $13

    RB
    Joseph Addai - $15
    Tashard Choice - $4
    Shonn Greenne - $24
    Felix Jones - $17

    WR
    Miles Austin - $27
    Bernard Berrian - $1
    Dwayne Bowe - $14
    Mario Manningham - $2
    Brandon Marshall - $27
    Sidney Rice - $22

    TE
    Jason Witten - $13
    Jared Cook - $2

    K
    Jeff Reed - $1

    Def
    Minnesota - $3

That equals $215, so I have to dump enough players to get under $200, then still leave enough to fill any empty slots in the auction coming up.

I won this league last year with Brees and my WR's. I think that will be my strategy again.

Who should I drop? I know some might say Flacco, but QB's go insane at the auction and no way would I get him at that price, or anything equivalent. Also, who do you think might be the best trading chips? I could move an expensive player for a cheap one, but this league has very savvy owners, who would think is the most appealing that won't kill me to lose?

$30 for Brees pfft, I think Id non tender him too, with all these 4000 yard QBs I prefer a cheap platoon system.
$13 is too much money for Flacco, I mean Im hearing what you're saying but Id look at Matt Moore as a replacement, Im not in love with Flacco myself but other people are$3 is a little steep for a def as well.

All of these prices are nothing special really looks like about the average auction price, I think I would non tender Bowe at $14 seems a little steep for a WR who will lack elite upside, Im too tired right now but it looks like the RBs need to be dismantled I think I'll take a look at it later

Id re-sign the engine that keeps this team winning-

    QB

Tough call on Brees, Id prefer two second tier QBs but if you say that, QBs are going for more than average auction price Id probably lean to bring back Brees, Flacco is about a two second no brainer non tender.

    $30

    RB

Id re-sign Tashard Choice at $4 thats a no brainer, I dont know about you, but If this were a fresh auction I dont think Id target any of these other RBs

    $4

    WR

Marshall, Rice and Austin are the engine that won the championship so you re-sign them. Berrian for $1 is a no brainer.

    $76

    TE

    Id re-sign both

    $15

Spent $15+$76+$4+$30 = $125 that leaves you $75 to play with for the draft

    Brees

    Choice

    Austin
    Rice
    Marshall
    Berrian

    Witten
    Cook

    Thanks for the advice.

I agree that Greene is overvalued, as is Jones, Addai. Im trying to move them and pick up the #2 pick in the rookie draft and take Dez.

12 team league, 1st round pick 1 =$16, pick 2=$15, and on down to pick 12 being $5. Round 2 is $4 until pick 7, then all remainding picks are $2.

I would have to go look at auction results.

I may try and trade Flacco, as I think I could flip him for a decent cheap WR, then get a backup in the auction.

I like Norris' recs. My only change would be moving Rice and something to get AJ or another top WR. Just not sure Rice is healthy..

My first thought looking at it was try to deal S Rice while he is valued so high. I think we saw his ceiling a year ago and after this year and no Favre(I would think) come 2011, Rice will not be a #1 type WR. I like him as a WR2 not WR1.

But if you could get someone to pay for the overpriced RBs and get a pick I would go for that for sure. If the WRs are the straw that stirs the drink, and you can deal a RB, then keep Rice. I understand wanting to keep Flacco, but you will starting Brees all day long, so if Flacco brings you a pick or something at all in a trade, you could find a backup at a cheaper price and open up money to spend somewhere else.

I like Bowe to bounce back, but I don't know if I like him to bounce back for $14 in this format.
